Epidemiology

The mission of the Division of Epidemiology in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health is to improve the public health through research and education. We seek to do this by expanding our knowledge of the distribution and causes of disease, thereby increasing our ability to plan and deliver effective prevention programs; and by training future researchers and public health practitioners.

The Division of Epidemiology has a long tradition of focus on the epidemiology of cancers, musculoskeletal diseases, HIV/AIDS, and other diseases, whether chronic or infectious; and an emphasis on genetic, individual, and environmental factors affecting human health.

The Division offers two degree programs: the Master of Public Health  (MPH*) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Our graduates go on to work as epidemiologists in a wide variety of settings, including academic institutions, public health agencies at all levels of government, private industry, and international organizations.
